How do I pay for the Unlock service?
Phone Clinic will receive your unlocking fee payment to Bellow account number.
Please note all fees are charged in New Zealand Dollars (NZ$) and where relevant please check any relevant international exchange rate fee or other fee your bank may charge for processing any international purchase.
How long does the Unlock Service Take?
For most Australian and New Zealand Carriers your unlock code will be ready in 1-3 business days. For International Carriers it varies from 1 to 10 business days. Please be careful buying from unknown unlocking websites on the internet as many of them will take your fee and then just won’t get back to you for months despite claiming they offer an instant service – we speak to many people who have been frustrated by this each and every day.
Can all mobile phones be unlocked?
No. About 5 to 10% of mobile phone unlocks we attempt won’t be possible. If this is the case you will be refunded the fee. (Note in cases where your phone is network barred then unlocking won’t work – in this case there is no fee refund – the onus is on you to tell us if you suspect the mobile phone is a lost or stolen handset PRIOR to booking an unlocking service and we will generally not provide the service in such cases). We also do not provide a refund if you provide us with the wrong IMEI number for your phone!
Why unlock my mobile phone?
There are a number of reasons you’d want to unlock your phone. Most of all, it gives you freedom to use your product the way you want.
1) I want to use multiple mobile phone networks.
You may own more than one SIM card running on different networks; if you want to swap the SIM cards from time-to-time your phone must be unlocked.
2) I want to change mobile phone networks:
To Save Money: You may find your mobile phone network is not as competitively priced as another and so now want to use a different SIM card in your phone.
For Service Coverage: If you have moved to Regional Australia you may probably want to unlock your mobile phone and switch to Telstra for any remotely reasonable service coverage.
For Better Service Reliability: You may need to switch mobile phone companies due to your current companies service coverage or reliability being poor (hashtag #fail!) close to where you live or places you frequently visit.
3) I am travelling overseas for business or holidays & want to use a local SIM Card.
If you are planning to travel overseas you may want to use your phone with a SIM card from that country – to save yourself money on the notorious over-pricing local Australian phone networks charge for ‘International Roaming Fees’.
If you are already overseas not to worry you can call us from anywhere, make payment via credit card and have your mobile phone unlocked as soon as possible.
4) I am selling my mobile phone and want it unlocked.
You may be planning to sell your old mobile phone, in which case you may be able to sell it at a higher price and not have to worry if your potential buyer’s SIM card will not be accepted by your phone.
5) My mobile phone is Network Barred!
This is generally due to one of the following reasons:
Lost and Found: You may have lost your phone and had it network barred then received a new handset from your phone company only to then find your old phone again. We do not unlock any phones that have been reported lost or stolen.
Stolen Phone: Phone Clinic will Never Unlock a stolen mobile phone. If you have a stolen mobile phone or are considering purchasing one then please do not contact us full stop. You can check if your handset has been registered lost or stolen here or black listed >
Unlocking SIM Locked phones
A Service Provider (SP) lock is used to ensure that your mobile phone will only work on one network; the one that you purchased your phone from. If your mobile phone is locked then it will refuse to accept a SIM card from another network. Unlocking is the process of removing the SP Lock so that it is possible to use other SIM cards in your phone. Phone Clinic can unlock almost any handset, including iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, all Android Phones, Blackberries, Nokia & most other mobile phones.
Is my mobile phone SIM locked?
The simplest way to check if your phone is locked is to insert a SIM card from another network and see if the phone will accept it. If your phone is locked you will often see an error message of some kind. These messages vary depending on your handset manufacturer. Here are some examples where the mobile phone is definitely locked:
Nokia = “Enter restriction code” or “SIM card rejected”
Sony Ericsson = “Incorrect SIM” or “Enter Correct SIM”
Samsung = “Invalid Network SIM…Enter Code”
